Stanley Parable Devs Denonuce Cheaters Claiming Impossible Achievement

The devs behind the Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe are calling out players who cheated to clear the game’s impossible “Super Go Outside” achievement.

The developers of The Stanley Parable have called out players who cheated to clear the recent Ultra-Deluxe edition’s most difficult challenge. Initially created as a free-to-download half life 2 mod by Davey Wreden and William Pugh, The Stanley Parable would soon become a standalone title in 2013. The game tells the story of Stanley, a voiceless office drone whose ordinary life is turned upside down when all of his co-workers mysteriously vanish one day. Guided by an omnipotent narrator (voiced by British actor Kevan Brighting), Stanley must choose between following the path laid out for him or branching out on his own, unlocking several different alternate endings along the way. even years after The Stanley Parable was first released, players are still trying to find hidden meanings within the game’s many twists and turns.

Developer Crows Crows Crows would give these fans even more, to ponder earlier this year with the release of The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, an extended re-release of the 2013 original that added new branching paths and a further meta-awareness of its nature as a video game. To empathize this last point, The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe features an unorthodox and surprisingly challenging achievement dubbed “Super Go Outside,” which requires players to not play the game at all for 10 real-life years as an extended version of the original’s five-year “Go Outside”challenge. By its very nature, this achievement is impossible to complete until at least 2032 – unless the player in question cheats by setting their computer’s clock to that date.

However, it’s pretty easy to figure out when someone bragging about unlocking The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe’s Super Go Outsideand” achievement used this method to cheat, and the developers behind the game have some choice words for those that have tried it. Crows Crows Crows recently posted a message on its official Twitter page addressing players who cheated to gain the “Super Go Outside“achievement, reciting the old”You cheated not only the game, but yourself“copypasta to scold those that took the easy way out instead of enduring the challenge as the developers intended. Other Twitter users in the comments section have responded to this with stories of their own struggles with clearing the original Stanley Parable’s Go Outside” achievement, but most are in agreement that skipping the clock ahead 10 years is a cheap way to clear the “Super Go Outside”achievement.

Super Go Outside” is far from the only new achievement players can attempt to unlock in The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, with one surprisingly challenging one requiring Stanley to click on a certain door exactly five times – complete with the Narrator chiding him for only doing this for an in-game trophy. There is plenty of other mind-boggling content added in The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxesuch as the difficult-to-uncover “Heaven” ending and even a surprise reference to this year’s blockbuster hit Elden Ring.

All of this plays off The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe’s meta-commentary regarding the nature of video games, with the “Super Go Outside” achievement being a sly nod to the lengths some players will go to in order to get Platinum status on their favorite titles. Bypassing this challenge by cheating in such an effortless manner misses the point the developers of The Stanley Parable were trying to make, so it makes sense that they would be less-than-pleased with those who decided to skip ahead of the 10-year wait required to clear the “Super Go Outside”achievement.
